Washington CPA — Bellevue

CPA services for Bellevue, WA — built for the Eastside tech economy.

Bellevue's client base looks a lot like Seattle's — RSU-heavy tech compensation, startup equity, high-income individuals — with its own city B&O tax layered on top. We're a Washington State Licensed CPA practice serving Bellevue remotely, with pricing that doesn't carry an Eastside office lease.

Who it's for

Built for Bellevue.

Bellevue's economy skews toward big tech and the businesses that orbit it:

  • Eastside tech employees and executives managing RSU vesting, ISOs, and the eventual Washington capital gains tax on a sale
  • Startups and small consultancies operating out of Bellevue or the greater Eastside without a large in-house finance function
  • High-income individuals doing capital gains planning around the $1,000,000 rate-tier breakpoint before a major sale
  • Bellevue small businesses and retailers now filing Bellevue’s own city B&O return alongside the state one

Why remote works here

Why Bellevue clients look for an accountant who works remotely.

Bellevue office space isn't cheap, and that shows up in what a lot of Eastside CPA firms charge for a return that's genuinely no more complex than one filed from anywhere else in the state. We serve Bellevue clients the same way we serve every Washington city on this list: remotely, through a secure portal, under the same Washington State Licensed CPA credential you'd verify for a firm with a Bellevue Way address.

For the RSU and equity-heavy client base concentrated here, that also means a CPA used to modeling a sale against Washington's capital gains tax tiers before you sell — not after, when the only options left are the ones you already took. A lot of people searching for an accountant in Bellevue are really looking for exactly that kind of planning, not just a return filed on time.

The tax landscape

Bellevue’s own B&O tax, and the capital gains number that matters more

Bellevue levies its own city Business & Occupation tax, separate from and in addition to the state B&O tax — and unlike Seattle or Tacoma, Bellevue uses one flat rate rather than a rate table: 0.1596% on taxable gross receipts, across all classifications. Businesses with $215,000 or less in Bellevue taxable receipts for 2026 owe no city B&O tax, though a return still has to be filed. A separate city business license is also required if you have a Bellevue location, or generate $4,000 or more in Bellevue-sourced gross income; the 2026 registration fee is $119 and, unlike many license programs, does not need annual renewal.

State B&O still applies on top of that: 0.471% for retailing, 0.484% for wholesaling and manufacturing, and the tiered Service & Other rate that took effect October 1, 2025 — 1.5% under $1 million in gross income, 1.75% up to $5 million, 2.1% above $5 million. Washington’s Small Business B&O Tax Credit can reduce or zero out the state portion for the smallest filers, worth checking even if your Bellevue city return shows a small amount due.

For Bellevue’s individual clients, though, the number that usually matters more is Washington’s capital gains tax: 7% on the first $1,000,000 of taxable gain above the standard deduction ($278,000 for 2025, the latest published figure) and 9.9% on gain above $1,000,000. A concentrated stock position or a business sale that crosses that $1 million breakpoint can shift a meaningful amount of tax depending on how and when you sell — exactly the kind of decision worth modeling before it happens, not after.

Washington and city tax rates, classifications, and thresholds on this page reflect our research of official Washington Department of Revenue and city finance department sources as of August 2026. Several of these figures changed in 2025 and 2026 legislative and rate-setting cycles and can change again — confirm your exact rate and threshold with the Washington Department of Revenue, the relevant city finance office, or on a consultation before filing. This page is general information, not tax advice, and does not create a client relationship.

Bellevue tax questions, answered.

Yes. Bellevue charges a flat 0.1596% city B&O tax on gross receipts, on top of the state B&O tax, with a $215,000 (2026) exemption threshold below which no tax is owed. A separate business license is also required above a $4,000 city-sourced income threshold.

The RSU vesting itself is ordinary income. The capital gains tax applies when you later sell the vested shares at a gain — 7% on the first $1,000,000 of gain above the standard deduction, 9.9% above that. Planning the timing and size of a sale before you execute it is where a CPA adds the most value here.

No — we're remote-first with no physical office in Bellevue or anywhere in Washington. Everything runs through a secure portal and scheduled video or phone calls.

Yes. Many Bellevue clients need both a personal return that accounts for equity compensation and, if they also run a side business or consultancy, a business return — we coordinate both under one engagement.

Personal returns with W-2 income start at $80; returns involving Schedule C or more complex equity situations start at $150. Your exact price is confirmed on a free consultation.

Yes. RSUs, ISOs, and concentrated stock positions are a regular part of our Bellevue work, and it's exactly the kind of situation worth having a licensed CPA — not just a preparer — look at before you sell.
